description: A cartoon in the Charlotte Observer depicts a bedraggled Jesus trampled over by crowds on their way to The Da Vinci Code. What would be the outcome if Muhammad were shown in such a way? America and Europe have hopelessly veered into Laodiceanism. The prince of the power of the air, originally an angel of great beauty, has taken blasphemy and turned it into appealing art. There is no justification for subjecting our sensory organs to such blatant blasphemy.

transcript:

What drew my interest was a cartoon that appeared in the Charlotte Observer this morning. It is really apt, and it catches some aspect of this very succinctly. What you see is a man, lying on his back, in terrible condition, and he has just been trampled by a crowd of people—the public—and in the background is a theater marquis and it says, “Da Vinci Code.” He has been trampled by the crowd on their way to the movie.

Now as you look a bit closer to the trampled man, you begin to see that there is a shepherd’s staff lying broken off to the side of him, and his feet have holes in each of them. You get the picture. Here it is: Christ being trampled by the American public. The movie pulled in $224 million dollars (worldwide) in the first three days showing.

What do you think would happen in the Muslim world if that same treatment was given to Mohammed? A couple of political cartoons that appeared in a Danish magazine caused and motivated Moslems to riot over some parts of the western world and Middle East!

Now, I want to ask you a question: Is the United States and the western world, including Europe, Laodicean or what? The non-reaction by the overwhelming numbers of people which this man pictures of Him being run down is indicative of the attitude of professing Christians. We came out of the Laodicean American world. But, I want to warn you in case you do not recognize it, that both the book and the movie are very clear examples of outright blasphemy against God.

And yet, I have heard brethren justifying their reading of the book, and recommending that others read it, because it is “good.” No it is not. How can blasphemy be good? It is not good. I want to remind you that the Bible says—actually God said—that Satan is beautiful. We might say that he was the pinnacle of God’s angelic creation. And Paul says that Satan appears as an angel of light.

Brethren, his game is deception. And the world is buying that deception left and right, spending their money on blasphemy. Satan can make anything evil appear to be good, even as he himself appears to be good. He makes fornication to appear to be good. He makes adultery to appear to be good, as though it is beneficial to one’s life to commit this thing.

There is a way that seems right unto a man, but God says that the end thereof is the way of death. So the choice, brethren is yours. It is up to you to decide whether something like that is good, and what you are going to do in regard to it.
