The Sabbath has existed since the seventh day of Creation, when God blessed it and sanctified it. While the Sabbath was a part of the Old Covenant, it was in existence before that covenant, and thus it was not abolished with the covenant's passing. Jesus Christ and the apostles are shown still keeping the same Sabbath, and no indication is given that it would ever change. No day of the week besides the seventh-day Sabbath has been made holy by God, even though the Catholic Church claims the authority to make the first day of the week—Sunday—holy.
