description: In II Corinthians, Paul referred to the Corinthian congregation, at least that part who had responded to God's word, as epistles, reflecting through the impregnation of the Holy Spirit into their nervous systems, the dazzling light of Almighty God in their deeds and word, driving away the world's darkness and satanic lies. As God forcefully drove away the tohu and bohu of Satan's abortive rebellion (Genesis 1:3) by creating light, the light of Christ's gospel illuminates God's chosen saints, making them beacons of light to a darkened world, but also making them targets for persecution from reprobate minds, the dominant population on the earth. We should reflect the mind of God and His radiant light as a mirror to a confused and misguided society providing an example of God's abundant life patterned after God's own heart. As God's epistles, called from out of the darkness into His marvelous light, we bring needed hope and encouragement to a corrupt and darkened world continually on the verge of destruction. Though the fleshly being is perishing, the spiritual core is dramatically enhanced (II Corinthians 5:1-5) as a guarantee of a permanent spiritual body which will last for eternity, radiating the dazzling light of truth—God's immutable character.
