description: Most professing Christians erroneously believe that heaven is the reward of the saved, imagining that they will waft off to heaven at the time of their death, following the cues of the pagan beliefs about Elysium, Valhalla, Nirvana, and happy hunting grounds. Sadly, many take out of context a scripture Paul proclaimed for the saints living at the time of Christ's return (I Thessalonians 4:17) referring to "being caught up in the clouds to be with the Lord." The Bible indeed speaks of three heavens: (Genesis 1:1-the skies above our heads, Psalm 8:1-4-the galaxies, and II Corinthians 12:2-the location of God's throne. While there will be a gathering in the clouds of God's resurrected saints at Christ's return, it will be to establish God's government on the earth during a millennial time frame, fulfilling Jesus model prayer, "Thy Kingdom Come," as well as Daniel's prophecy that God's Kingdom will destroy all of the other badly governed kingdoms on this earth, replacing them with a kingdom ruled by Jesus Christ and His saints, ruled from Mount Zion upon Christ's return to the Mount of Olives here on this earth.
